Tour Day 10 (Mar 6th)

Reefton to Ross (322km)

Today was probably the best road I've ever ridden. This is the road I have seen in the advertising brochures with steep cliffs of the mountains on one side of the road, and the sea on the other.

We went to a disused coal mine 2000 feet up with some  seriously stunning views of the west coast. Also saw a colony of seals at Cape Foulwind and some fascinating rock formations and waterholes.

I spent the day thinking that I was looking at the Pacific Ocean. It is in fact the Tasman Sea.

On reaching our destination 'town', and I use that term loosely, it looks like something out of the 19th century. Basic room again in a very 'atmospheric' pub. The food was great (again), but I wish the locals would be a little more quiet at bedtime downstairs ... and stop letting off explosives.
