Tour Day 14 (Mar 10th)
Clyde to Oamaru (309km)
Certainly the coldest day here so far (11 - 15 degrees Celsius), and one of the dullest (scenery wise). Most of the scenery was grassland used for farming. However, there was a nice little range of hillocks that we passed.
We paid brief visits to a haunted pub, an active open gold mine and some giant volcanic rock marbles that emerge over time from the cliff face, and as further erosion occurs, disappear into the sea.
I also discovered the delights of a chicken, apricot and brie pie for lunch.
Our destination resort is one of the most scenic we have stayed at, with a cracking looking coastline. The hotel is a bit grim, and was a bit noisy when we arrived. However it was a lot quieter at bedtime, and the bed was nice and comfy.
