Tour Day 7 (Mar 3rd)
Napier to Wellington (390km)
This was the longest day of the tour so far. Mostly through farming territory with similar scenery to that of the previous days.
We stopped off for lunch in another very small township. Ingrid, the smallest of our group, was rather surprised when her seafood platter arrived on a plate the size of a small table. I think her weight has just doubled.
To help her out with this issue, we rode on past Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu on the way to Wimbledon, where (with the bikes parked on the centre court), a brief game of hand tennis commenced. It is irrelevant who won this game.
However, the Anglo-German alliance was broken on the pool table with England winning on the only round pool table in New Zealand. As such, it WAS relevant who won this game.
Onward bound took us through Masterton, where a brief stop to listen to the worst band in New Zealand provided some gentle amusement.
Over a mountain and onwards to Wellington, where we were met by some gorgeous ocean bay views.
